Your voice on the common good! Take an active part in the 2nd edition of the WUM Participatory Budget!
What is the Participatory Budgeting of WUM Medical University of Warsaw?
Participation means joint activity. The Participatory Budgeting is an initiative of the Rector of WUM through which members of our academic community can decide how to spend some of the University’s financial resources. Under the Participatory Budgeting procedure, every student, PhD student or staff member will have the opportunity to present and then choose projects to be pursued.
Why was it established?
The University is a community. Through Participatory Budgeting, together we can decide about things to change at and around the school. Such an initiative is an opportunity to identify and respond to the essential needs of our community. It will also support community integration and strengthen the people’s identification with the school.
What kinds of projects can be submitted?
- Useful for the broadly defined academic and non-academic circles
- Aimed at improving quality, work and study comfort by providing adequate equipment, or minor overhauls
- Contributing to strengthening the University’s infrastructure (small investments/overhauls and purchases)
- Concerning culture, education, sports, development, arts, etc.
These are just some examples of potential actions. Only we decide about the final scope of the projects.
In the 2nd edition of the WUM Participatory Budget, each applicant will be able to submit only one draft project in one of two categories: Employee Projects or Student Projects, along with a list of 10 supporters. Each employee can support any number of employee projects, and each student has the right to support any number of student projects.
Projects in the selected category are submitted on an electronic form available on the website budzetpartycypacyjny.wum.edu.pl.
Each voter can vote - within his or her category - for up to three projects on the voting form.
What is the value of the Participatory Budgeting for 2025?
The budget for 2025 is PLN 220,000 and will be divided into two categories: 50% of the funds will be allocated to employee projects and 50% to student projects.
In both categories, the distribution of funds to projects that will qualify for implementation in the voting will be within the limit of the category.
